Blood Donors

How They Help
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Thanks to generous blood donors, the Red Cross collects and distributes nearly half the nation’s blood supply. Over the last year, the Greater Steuben Chapter helped run 207 blood drives, collecting a record setting 8,272 units of blood!

What They Say About Helping
“I have always wanted to donate blood. I am amazed to think that I hold within me a substance that can save lives and that I only have to roll up my sleeve to share it.”
– A blood donor from Washington, D.C.

“I've been a Red Cross blood donor for over 25 years. I know I'm very fortunate to be healthy enough to be a regular donor, and by donating I'm sharing that blessing with others. I'll never know who benefits from my blood, but in a way, we all do. I hope that by donating blood at the Red Cross, I'm helping to ensure an adequate supply if I or someone I love ever needs it. Giving is easy, the Red Cross volunteers are wonderful people and I'll continue to give as long as I'm able. Please join me in becoming a Red Cross blood donor.”
- A blood donor from Corning, NY
