Helping The Community

How many times a month do you hear about a house fire on the news? How many people do you know who had surgery last year? Have you noticed the happy children enjoying our local pools and lakes in the summer under the watchful eye of trained lifeguards?

Though you may not always be aware of it, American Red Cross Greater Steuben Chapter provides security to our neighbors in these and many other situations.

  • Red CrossDisaster Action Team volunteers respond to local house fires, floods and other disasters, providing practical relief so families can begin to move on. Specially trained disaster volunteers are sometimes deployed to assist in national disaster relief efforts.
  • Red Cross blood services ensures that an adequate and safe blood supply is available for patients in our local hospitals.
  • Red Cross Safety and Health Training teaches people the skills they might someday be able to use to save a life. Courses cover topics such as water safety, boating safety, CPR, infant CPR and care giving, to name a few.
  • Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services connects families with their loved ones serving overseas during family times of need.
  • A Red Cross food pantry helps families improve their food security and empower them to free up limited resources for other bills.
  • Project SHARE is a partnership with NYSEG to ensure that people with low incomes can maintain energy service when other payment resources are exhausted.
